Day 1
Welcome to Tanzania – Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Go Ahead Trip guide will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your lodge in Arusha.
If time allows, explore Tanzania's safari capital with a relaxed city tour. Visit colourful local markets, discover the fascinating history of Tanzanite—the world's rarest gemstone—and browse the impressive Cultural Heritage Centre, home to African art and handmade crafts.
In the evening, enjoy your first traditional Tanzanian dinner while getting to know your guide and learning about the exciting days ahead.

Day 2
Experience Local Life in Mto wa Mbu

After breakfast, travel to the lively village of Mto wa Mbu, one of Tanzania's most culturally diverse communities, where more than 120 tribes live together peacefully.
Spend the day exploring the village on foot and by bicycle while visiting banana plantations, rice fields, local farms, and colourful markets. Meet talented woodcarvers, learn about traditional farming methods, and enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch prepared by local women using fresh ingredients from the village.
Complete the experience with a taste of locally brewed banana beer and traditional banana wine while chatting with friendly villagers about their daily lives.

Day 3
Meet the Hadzabe and Datoga Tribes at Lake Eyasi

Today offers one of the most unique cultural experiences in East Africa.
Rise early to accompany the Hadzabe people, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities in Africa. Walk alongside them as they demonstrate traditional hunting techniques, bush survival skills, and their remarkable connection with nature.
Later, visit the neighbouring Datoga community, famous for their skilled blacksmiths who continue to create knives, arrowheads, and jewellery using traditional methods passed down through generations.
As the day comes to an end, relax and watch the sun set over the peaceful shores of Lake Eyasi.

Day 4
Coffee, Culture and Country Life in Karatu

Journey into the beautiful green highlands of Karatu, where coffee farms and fertile landscapes surround welcoming villages.
Visit an Iraqw family and discover their unique traditions, architecture, and daily way of life. Learn how locally grown coffee is harvested, roasted, and prepared before enjoying a freshly brewed cup straight from the source.
Join a traditional cooking session, stroll through organic farms, and end the day with music and dance performed by members of the local community.

Day 5
Chagga Heritage on the Slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro

Today you travel to the lush foothills of Africa's highest mountain to explore the homeland of the Chagga people.
Enjoy a scenic walk to the beautiful Materuni Waterfalls before taking part in a traditional coffee-making experience. From picking ripe coffee cherries to roasting beans over an open fire and grinding them by hand, you'll discover why coffee plays such an important role in Chagga culture.
Visit historic underground caves once used for protection during tribal conflicts, enjoy a home-hosted lunch, and sample traditional banana beer while learning about the customs and history of the community.

Day 6
Maasai Traditions & Departure
Begin your final day with a visit to an authentic Maasai village.
Receive a warm welcome with traditional singing and dancing before learning about the Maasai way of life, their colourful customs, livestock traditions, and beautiful beadwork. Meet village elders, visit traditional homes, and gain a deeper understanding of one of East Africa's most iconic cultures.
Before saying goodbye, you'll have the opportunity to purchase handmade crafts directly from local artisans, helping support the community.
After your visit, your guide will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey, taking with you unforgettable memories and meaningful connections with the people of Tanzania.
